Scholarship Provision of Kyung Hee International Foundation

The Board of Directors of Kyung Hee International Foundation (referred as “KHIF” hereinafter) has amended “Resolution 2014-1” and replaced by “Resolution 2017-8” as follows:

* KHIF shall start awarding full tuition scholarship to four (4) students of Kyung Hee University annually from the 2018 academic year until a new resolution is adopted to increase, decrease or terminate “Resolution 2017-8”

* The name of this scholarship shall be “KYUNG HEE INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP” or “KHIF SCHOLARSHIP”.

* Recipients shall be selected by the President of Kyung Hee University among undergraduate, graduate or doctorate students who come from foreign countries to study at Kyung Hee University; two students from the USA and two students from the other foreign countries.

* Within 10 days after receiving the tuition statements, KHIF shall wire Kyung Hee University with the Scholarship Recipients’ tuition payment.

Amended “Resolution 2014-1” by the Board of Directors of KHIF on this 15th day of December 15, 2017 and affixed hereunder with the signatures of those who have participated in this amendment.

Mr. Ock-Ky Kim – Class of 1965 who majored physics at Kyung Hee University and currently residing in California, USA donated $110,000 Dollars this year alone to help assist KHU to build a Physics Laboratory. Mr. Kim has invented the “Back-illuminated photodiode with a wide bandgap cap layer – Patent #US 4608586 A. Elected Dr. Yoon-Shik Park as one of the Board Members of Kyung Hee International Foundation. Dr. Yoon-Shik Park is currently Professor of International Finance at the School of Business of George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In addition to George Washington University, he also taught at Georgetown University and Columbia University. After graduation from Kyung Hee University Law School, Prof. Park has received two doctorate degrees: PhD in economics from George Washington University and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in international finance from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.

In commemoration of its 50th anniversary, Dr. Hye Sook Shin, Dean of the College of Nursing Science with collaboration of KHIF raised $41,100 fund in the USA among alumni of the College.

Elected Mr. Sang Ju Lee as one of the Board Members of Kyung Hee International Foundation to succeed the late Dr Chong Soo Pyun. Mr. Lee is currently serving for the Kyung Hee North America Alumni Association as Chairman.

Upon recommendation of Dr. Chong Shik Lee, Professor of University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Ik Tae Chang of Rancho Palos Verdes California donated $2,000 to help assist Dr. Inwon Choue, the president of KHU for his Global Engagement Project.

Hanna Marie Loosli who came from USA to Kyung Hee University for study and Feruza Yuldasheva who came from Uzbekistan to KHU for study from Mongolia were selected by the President of KHU to become the first Scholarship Recipients of KHIF.

Kyung Hee Alleluia Mission Choir
KHIF sponsored Kyung Hee Alleluia Mission Choir for its Mission Trip to Eastern USA with DANBI TV and local Newspapers. The Choir has performed over 300 times in the cities of Korea, USA, Russia, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand since it was organized in 1991 with Kyung Hee University College of Music graduates. The Choir was led by Prof. Chung Suk Suh and conducted by Prof. Kwang Yul Wang. Soprano Misun Oh was the prima donna of this event.

March 18, 2014 Mr. Man Shik Um has been elected as the Treasurer/Secretary of KHIF.

* December 2011 – KHIF donated $20,000 to Kyung Hee University

* June 2010 – KHIF donated $12,000 to Kyung Hee University

* January 2007 – Professor Chong Soo Pyun donated 356 shares of the First Tennessee National Corp and 1,000 shares of the Union Planters Corp, valued at about $50,000. KHIF is still holding these shares and currently receiving quarterly dividends.
